conversement #1

Hello Mr. Vok,

I am human, I feel the need to distinctly make this point. I’m writing to request a copy of Reggae is Wonderful to read to my small child. My child is an incredibly regal cat named Jasper. I can send photos. Please let me know if this book is actually in existence. I so very much enjoyed Spiders Are Wonderful. You made some very compelling points in such a breif yet poignant book. I am hoping Reggae Is Wonderful offers just as many awe-inspiring moments.

Thank you for your time truly,

And I have submitted the following response to this youth who requested information about Reggae is Wonderful. I hope his kind message of SEPTEMBER 2014 applies pressure to you, or whoever is responsible for publishing this hell-tome.

Dear Sir, or Sirs, or Siress,

Reggae is Wonderful has entered what the publishers call DEVELOPMENT HELL. Unfortunately, despite my years of research and ‘Deep Cover’ in the musical scene thereabove, I have been unable to find anything to suggest that Reggae actually is wonderful, and the book-makers said it was too late to change the title to Reggae Is Pretty Good, with an afterword about how its affiliation with SKA is “holding it back”.

In hopes of reaching an agreement, I have reanimated the bones of Lee “Scratch” Perry and we are holding talks.

“Dub” be good to me,
Toby

Toby,

Toby,

Here is my proposal

REGGAE IS WONDERFUL

Page 1-2: Reggae is wonderful
Page 3-4: It has 4/4 time
Page 5-6: With a fairly slow tempo
Page 7-8: That can be slower still
Page 9-10: and slower
Page 11-12: slooooooooower
Page 13-14: SLO
page 15-16: OOO
page 17-18: WER
page 19-20: until it is slower than time itself can cope with
page 21-22: and the physical structures of space begin to fold in on themselves until all of existence has been reduced to a single point of spacetime from which there is no escape
page 23-24: and that is how dub was born

Illustrations at your discretion.

Yours in anonymity,

Well, like they always say, “Jamaica” the book (“You make” the book) and I’ll publish it! Jamaica is where Reggae comes from. Reggae is a sort of sound, I think.
